In an entry posted on the Yoganymous blog today, writer Anna Lively shared in a clever tone the 10 reasons people should practice yoga in their 40’s.
In her opening remark she explains:
“Though my practice was born in my 20s, I have found that practicing yoga in my 40s brings a certain level of maturity, insight, and lightness to everything I do. If you’ve made it to your 40s and can’t stand going to the gym, are still wondering how to find inner peace, or how you can find your true north again after wayward times, a yoga practice could be just what the guru ordered.”
Of all the reasons outlined, my favorite is probably the following:
” Yoga is being scientifically proven to reduce stress, relieve chronic conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and help people recover from trauma. Medical benefits such as decreased blood pressure, improved heart and lung function, as well as overall flexibility, balance, and muscle tone are well documented. It’s no wonder it is one of the most popular activities in wellness.”
